Question from the user

Auscultation and diagnosis

In view of the photographs provided by the gardener, Frédéric Marque once again raises the issue of watering. Remember that for a lack or excess of water, the consequences are the same: drying out of the plant. It is therefore essential to water your plants copiously, but in a spaced manner. Before each watering, the clod of earth must be well drained and the surface must always be dry. In this case, this ivy undoubtedly suffers from an excess of water which activated the fall of the leaves following a rotting of the roots. Unfortunately, this factor has condemned the plant which will never regain its original beauty.

Some recommendations

This ivy is not an isolated case. In apartment, many are not very rigorous in terms of watering. It is therefore advisable to choose your volume of water according to the amount of soil to humidify. If water takes refuge in the cup, evacuate it to prevent it from going back into the roots. On the other hand, it is strongly advised not to expose an ivy directly to the light. Favor the shade and partial shade zones. Finally, if the air in your apartment is very dry, spray the ivy leaves from time to time with demineralized water.
